Project: School Facelift
Transforming Spaces, Inspiring Minds
When a community comes together, walls don’t just get painted — they come alive.
In August 2023, Queen of the Road Foundation, Inc. joined forces with past students, teachers, and local partners to give a beloved school the fresh start it deserved.

How It Started
From Awareness to Action.
A Story of Collective Impact.
When the Founder of Queen of the Road Foundation, Inc. learned about “Project Facelift” from Ms. Brooks, she immediately supported the effort, having already seen the school’s needs firsthand. A follow‑up call from Mrs. Yvette Barkley—her trusted partner from a 2013 school initiative—confirmed her commitment to join the project.
She assisted with planning alongside Mrs. Barkley, the Project Manager, and Mrs. Clarke, a senior teacher who handled site visits, early deliveries, and gave up part of her summer to ensure success. Mrs. Barkley and the Class of 1975, including Glendon Whitter (Bowie) and Carol Senior (Millie), were key to bringing the project together.
“Special thanks go to Mrs. Barkley, who traveled to Jamaica and coordinated on the ground. Queen of the Road Foundation, Inc. extends heartfelt appreciation to all past students, teachers, and community members who volunteered to complete this repainting project.”
